I spent time playing with Arcade Fire's latest interactive music video "Just a Reflektor". This experimental video allows your to play with and alter the video's graphics and to get your face in the video (yes that's my hairy mug in the mirror!) by clever use of a computer, smartphone or tablet.
From a visual point of view, the video is amazing. It was shot on location in Haiti and is filled with exotic and strange imagery from psychadelic dance scenes to Haitian Zonbis. Almost every frame of this video feels like a work of art in it's own right and I'm a fan of the naturalistic shooting style and grade.
I must admit that I have a pretty short attention span when it comes to most "interactive" videos as they generally offer precious little interactivity and can be quite anti-climactic. Reflektor is a totally different experience, allowing you to toy with the look of almost every frame of the video and feel like you've been a part of the Arcade Fire world.
